Irina Rokhberg, founder and managing director of LIC Kids, a play center with a gym and classes for kids, started her business two years ago out of necessity. She hired another doctor, Suzanne Cole, and now has more than 1,200 patients, many of them children. “We’ve seen just a tremendous number of kids coming,” Savard says. Moitri Savard, a doctor who started a family practice in LIC in 2006, was faced with a choice last year: Bring another physician into the practice, or stop accepting new patients. The store also comes with a small dining area, providing nearby workers with a place to eat lunch. The store is 14,000 square feet and includes sections devoted to fresh produce, meat & poultry, cheese, prepared items, baked goods and groceries. The store, which is now open from 7 am- 10 pm seven-days a week, is located at 43-10 Crescent Street, on the ground floor (and basement) of the Linc LIC building. The store opened at noon and shoppers were greeted to many of the trappings that are found at its upscale Hunters Point location.
